2026.04.15 - Brown-Lowrey Provincial Park - Wed, Apr 15 2026 - (View Original Event Details)

Write Up:
Eight hikers managed to beat the weather, doing this 7.5 km, 241-metres elevation hike around the perimeter trails in Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. The temperature never got up above 4 degrees, but we had great company to enjoy, and periods of sun interspersed between mostly cloudy/overcast skies. Underfoot we experienced areas of ice and a bit of snow, as well as muddy and dry sections. Icers were a must and poles helpful at times. Along the path, club members enjoyed conversations about what they’d been up to over the Winter, as well as finding out plans for the Spring-Summer months. A highlight was sitting with a lunch/snack and basking in the scenery before us - a panorama of hills rolling into the Rocky Mountain Range. Cloud formations dramatically draped themselves around snowy peaks. Susan C. spied the lone Crocus which popped up in low-lying grass a few metres away from the park bench. We did not see much wildlife, aside from Red Squirrels which we could hear twittering at us, as we hiked by. All in all we had just over 3 hours of hiking fun – a great day for all!
