Avion Ridge/Newman Peak What a day! The hike up to Goat Lake has everything; a fire access road (not the best part), ascent through aspens, lodgepole pines and spruce, open meadows, cliff bands and finally a stream (with incredible waterfalls) to the lake. From the lake, the trail winds gently upwards through alpine meadows covered with wild flowers, ascends through the cliff bands to the scree slope where the col of Avion Ridge looms. After a short break, we headed north to summit Newman Peak. The views were thoroughly enjoyed by all as we lunched at the top. Clear, blue skies and little wind made it a perfect lunch spot. We retraced our steps back, arriving just in time for Happy Hour. A 22km day with 1200 elevation gain. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
