In spite of the threat and eventual appearance of rain, our intrepid crew walked up to Healy Pass and returned to the parking lot by the same route. Part of our group walked at a moderate pace with frequent stops to wait for the rest to catch up. The rest walked at what we decided to describe as a "leisurely" pace. The trail was very wet and muddy and completely submerged in a few places under giant puddles. We saw acres of dead glacier lilies and a few live ones. Twin flowers, anemones, and vivid paintbrush were abundant. Valerian and Larkspur were just beginning. There was still enough snow on the surrounding mountains to make them a magnificent contrast to the lush greenery. We saw a magnificent battle between a pair of ospreys and a golden eagle which was as good as any battle of Britain. Thanks to Patrick for also pointing out the many birds that were singing their little hearts out, to Heather and Dan for driving and to Berthilde for helping Dan to find Lois at her very own choice of carpool meeting place.
