Ten hale & hearty hikers made an attempt at Powderface Ridge. From the beginning we were hiking in snow and put on our microspikes when it got slippery. We made it to the first col and started through the trees following in the footsteps of other hikers. Didn’t get very far before those ended and we were up to our necks in snow (actually over our knees) with no sign of a trail. We turned around and went up to the first outlier. Enjoyed lunch, sunshine, and fabulous views of the snow-covered familiar peaks. An abbreviated trip enjoyed by all on a beautiful day. Another attempt will be made once the snow is gone.
