1949 - 2007

Gayle passed away after falling on the Grassi Lakes hiking trail near Canmore, AB, on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the age of 58 years. Gayle was born into a pioneer Banff family where she grew to develop a passionate love for the mountains and the outdoors. She was a graduate of the University of Alberta, Simon Frazer and Gonzaga Universities with degrees in education, recreational activities and a Masters in Counseling. She taught school in Kamloops, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin and Calgary where she had a particular love for teaching developmentally impaired children.  

Gayle was a life member of the Norseman Ski Club and a master skier of legendary speed and grace. She excelled at downhill, back country and cross country skiing. She was also a lover of strenuous hikes and backpack trips. She was a fifteen year leader with the Calgary Weekend Hikers and more recently a member of the exclusive "Yo-Bear" hiking club.

In 1997, Gayle and her husband, Tom, formed the Inner Works Inc., a company dedicated to helping individuals, couples and teams understand their personality dynamics so that they might live more productive and fulfilling lives. Gayle was an author, a pianist, a singer, a spiritual seeker and teacher. She was gifted with a marvelous athleticism and a brilliant mind. She was intensely social by nature with an incredible zest for life. Gayle was liked, loved and cherished by many people - she will be profoundly missed.  

Besides her husband, Tom, Gayle is survived by a stepdaughter, Tanis; grandchildren, Naomi and Jeremy of Nanaimo, B.C.; mother, Edith of Duncan, B.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Nick and their children, Katie and Chris of Santa Cruz, CA; and brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Susan and their children, Aaron, Alex and April of Surrey, B.C.
