We started on the popular trail from Chateau Lake Louise to the Lake Agnes teahouse. At Mirror Lake we took the less frequently travelled Cliff Route on the left side of Mirror Lake. At Lake Agnes we divided the group into a slow and a fast group. John Robinson, who had been to the summit with me on a previous trip, guided the slow group. We made a short detour to the gazebo on Big Beehive. Shortly thereafter our progress was blocked by a cliff, which some considered a fun to climb while to others it may have been intimidating. This was followed buy a traverse to a gully at the back of the mountain. The traverse was mildly exposed at places as there were smaller cliffs below and big cliffs above. The gully to the saddle between Mt. Whyte and Devils’s Thumb was a grunt but the ridge from the saddle to the summit was most enjoyable. Eleven people reached the summit under blue sky and warm but not hot sun. Our effort was rewarded by magnificent views. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
