Despite a dismal weather forecast for Lake Louise on Saturday, we ended up having a great hike. There was only a brief sprinkling of rain as we hiked back along the lakeshore trail. The clouds hung low in the valley and continued to move in and out allowing us a view of the area. The best viewing point of lake was along the Connector trail at the lookout point. The canoes on the lake looked like little dots. Hiking down the Highline Trail we encountered a slope covered in fireweed. It was an impressive site and we stopped for photos. Shortly afterwards as we hiked on the Plain of Six trail, we came across a marmot sitting up on a rock chipping loudly to warn the others that we humans were encroaching on their territory. The stepping stones near the end of the lake were above water. Most of the hiking group stopped to observe the rock climbers before we arrived back at the Chateau.
