When we got to the Ribbon Creek parking lot at 10 am we were amazed at the number of people that were already there. There was a sign saying in very large letters that there was a bear in the area. Unfortunately we never read the very small print that told what trails were closed. We had a very pleasant hike until we reached the Kovach/ Aspen junction . There was yellow ribbon across the trail which meant the trail was closed. This is where the bear and the carcass were. Could be the reason none of the hundred people we saw in the parking lot were on this trail!!😋😋 We decided to retrace our steps and hike back to the top of Kovach and enjoy our lunch there. We then retraced our route back to the parking lot. We all had an enjoyable hike in spite of the change of the original planned route.
