A strong, optimistic and intrepid group made a very early start. Unfortunately, conditions gradually got worse instead of better. Our rain gear was thoroughly tested and in many cases found wanting. The clouds shrouded the mountains, obscuring the incredible vistas and often we were so focused on not slipping on wet tree roots and deepening mud, that we didn't see the alpine flowers and occasional glimpses of peaks and ridges that briefly penetrated the murk- more like hallucination than reality. Not a whimper nor a grumble from the entire crew during four hours of increasingly rapid splashing! The portion of the trail that we covered has not changed much. There is still the area at the North end of Lake Sherbrooke where the trail has bad camber and threatens to give way. The logs used in some places to cross streams are the same ones that have been there for years and show a little deterioration. We'll have to try this again when there aren't raindrops bouncing off the surface of the lake. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
