This was a scenic hike through meadows and aspen woods in the foothills of the Sheep River, backdropped by the snowy peaks of the Rockies. It felt like summer, with temperature hovering at 18 degrees and only a slight breeze. The trails were mostly bare and dry, with some muddy sections, but no snow or ice. We started on the Sandy McNabb Interpretive trail, transferred to a couple of ski trails before tackling the west ridge of Sandy McNabb Hill. Here the hill falls steeply to the the river in shale and cliffs. We continued along the ridge to Sandy McNabb Hill East. We descended to a terrace above the Sheep River and returned through meadows above the river on a trail used mainly by horses. We completed the trip on the scenic south leg of the interpretive trail. The trip was longer than advertised, 9 km according to Enrique’s GPS. Thanks everyone for coming on the hike. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
